August 2025

Stacey visited from the end of July into August. We did a lot of touristy stuff while she was visiting.
We hiked Diamond Head with Stacey.

We missed a bunch of surf nights with our group while we had visitors and/or vacations- so they took a picture as a remembrance to come back!

First day of 7th grade for Kate

First day of 5th grade for Jane

We missed the bus on the first day of middle school for Kate. We just watched it pass by as we were approaching the street. This is a video of her riding the bus for the very first time on the second day of school. We have not missed a day since that dreadful first day!

Forcing my girls to take a walk on the beach on North Shore.

The Blue Angels came to town! I remember watching them when I lived in San Francisco, so I made sure we didn't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity.

There were a lot of STEAM activities on the tarmac, which helped to pass the time until the Blue Angels did their thing.

Made in Hawaii. Expensive, but worth it!

Bryan and I have missed out on opportunities to go scuba diving in one of the best places on the earth. No more! We are paying one of Bryan's friends to take us out once a month. This will guarantee attendance.

Rebekah attended Kristi's graduation from her DNP Residency.

Kim, Malachi, Norah, and Zander came to visit for the week. It was nice being able to hang out with my sister and check things off my list I have not yet done.
Malachi and I were able to hike Koko Head Arch.

We finally were able to swim in cockroach cove and crawl through the tunnel.

The kids went swimming near Mermaid Cave.

The tide was too high, but we were able to go in some parts.

We celebrated Kristi and Jesse with a friendly game of bowling at Schofield Barracks.

We attempted to hike the legal way to the Stairway to Heaven. There were police at the beginning of the trail who would not let us pass until 7am. We decided to hike Tripler Ridge Trail instead. Great views, but terrible without long pants. We got so scratched up from the ferns. Krist almost died from dehydration. And Jesse had a panic attach. Malachi, Bryan, and Rebekah did just fine.

Kate and Jane were asked to play the ukulele in a fundraiser. There was a guest musician too- Jake Shimabukuro.

Bryan took me scuba diving (first time in Hawaii) for my birthday!!

Happy 40th Birthday to Rebekah!!

Jane turns 9

Jane has really thrived in Hawaii. She loves the pool, ocean, the hiking adventures, the chickens. She has made some really sweet friends at school, church, soccer, and summer fun. Jane loves the Sanrio characters- especially Cinnamoroll. She is excited about our trip to Japan, so she can stock up on merchandise designed with his logo. Jane is such a thoughtful individual. She makes the sweetest notes for her parents, teachers, and friends. She loves reading graphic novels. In fact, I think she has read the Wings of Fire series 5 or 6 times! She continues to play the ukulele and piano. It is always so fun to hear her playing both in the morning before school. Sometimes, I have to double check which child is playing because Jane is slowly gaining on her big sister! I've noticed a little more nervousness- like climbing the ropes course or being assigned to a different classroom than her friends. She also is preferring to do inside activities like reading, playing video games, and watching TV. It is hard to see your kids grow older and not need their parents as much. Jane has been a delight to watch grow. I know she will do amazing things this coming year!

July 2024

Dressed up for the 4th of July!
We watched the fireworks on Pearl Harbor from Crestview Park. They lasted maybe 3 minutes. A little sad compared to NYE.

Celebrating Jane's birthday early- Kristi had to go to the mainland for Army Reserve Training.

We invited friends over to surprise Jane for her birthday. She figured it out because of all the shoes in the garage!

Kate made the cutest scavenger hunt with all of Jane's presents. She got a purple Stanley cup, the cutest Sanrio dress, and a claw machine.

We went to Coral Crater Adventure Park to celebrate the new 9 year old!

February 2024

Living in Hawaii has educated our family about different cultures and holidays. Kate made a dragon in her class to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Watching this year's Super Bowl was really fun because we got to see multi glimpses of Taylor Swift, made friendship bracelets, and the Chief's won!!

The girls "heart attacked" the leaders of our church with their activity group.

Kate celebrated her 11th birthday with family and friends.

We celebrated with an Oreo Ice Cream Cake and Taylor Swift decorations around the house.

The best part of her birthday celebration was playing barbies with Kristi and Jesse.

My good friend's son, Corbin, visited us while on his deployment with the Navy. We took him on a hike and good ice cream on the North Shore.

Fun artwork at the Ehukai Pillbox!

Kate celebrated her birthday with some friends from school and church at the Trampoline Park. Everyone played so hard and had a great time!

Kristi took me on a trail run in Aiea. Of course, we had to take a picture with the H3 in the background!
